Kendal Common study committee defers officer vote, schedules neighborhood walking tour

WESTON — April 7, 2022 — Weston's Kendal Common Local Historic District Study Committee sketched out an 18-month roadmap but deferred electing officers. Meeting April 7 with four of five members present, the committee agreed it could not vote on a chair or secretary in the absence of neighborhood representative Rick Brotman. Architect David Fixler ruled himself out as chair, citing his Planning Board workload: "I can't chair it. I'm flat out right now with planning." Members agreed to schedule a walking tour of the neighborhood, invite Massachusetts Historical Commission staffer Jennifer Doherty to a future meeting, and begin drafting a resident opinion survey. Resident Phyllis Halpern reported that the Historical Commission has secured an MHC grant to supplement $15,000 in Community Preservation Committee funding for a townwide modern-architecture survey, with Kendal Common as the first priority.
