Kendal Common Historic District Committee Sets August 29 Neighborhood Meeting

WESTON — August 7, 2024 — Weston's Kendal Common Local Historic District Study Committee will hold a hybrid neighborhood meeting August 29 at 7 p.m. to gauge resident support for the proposed district. The committee, which met Wednesday, August 7, voted unanimously to approve its prior meeting's minutes and confirmed a September 19 follow-up session. Neighborhood representative Rick Brotman, who will host the gathering at his home with a Zoom link for remote attendees, said he expects seven or eight households to participate, with proponents outnumbering skeptics. The committee is developing printed handout materials drawn from the project's existing website. A pending private home sale in the neighborhood — closing no earlier than mid-September — raised questions about whether the prospect of historic district designation influenced the sellers, a question Brotman said he posed directly but has yet to have answered.
