Weston ZBA Continues Two Addition Cases, Orders Deck Redesign at 490 Concord

WESTON — March 21, 2023 — Weston ZBA continues two residential addition cases, sending both back for more documentation. The Zoning Board of Appeals voted unanimously at its March 21 meeting to push both special permit hearings to later dates after concluding it could not act without revised plans or pending health approvals. In the first case, petitioners Hoang Bui and Honglin Hoduk at 490 Concord Road were told to redesign a proposed second-floor deck so it comes no closer than 17.4 feet to the abutting lot line, with neighbor Scott Neiman on record saying the structure's proximity "has always been a concern." The case was continued to May 2. In the second case, owner Brendan Collins and architect Glenn Travis of GMT Home Designs presented a code-compliance renovation at a 1939 home at 78 Tyler Road — raising substandard six-foot-six bedroom ceilings, widening dangerous stair winders, and adding dormers — taking RGFA from 10.33 to 10.85 percent of the 41,179-square-foot lot. That case was continued to April 4 at noon, conditioned on the results of a Title 5 septic inspection scheduled for March 24.
