Weston ZBA continues both May 14 cases without substantive review

WESTON — May 14, 2024 — Weston ZBA continues both cases on May 14 over procedural and scheduling conflicts. Acting chair Jane Fisher Carlson, member Stephen J. Larocque and associate member Tristan Colangelo voted 3-0 to continue a 405 North Ave accessory apartment case for Yanping Liu and Yanhao Li to May 21 at 6:30 p.m. after attorney Mark Lanza requested a delay; abutter Jackie Rutledge said it was "the fourth time this issue has come up for the same property." The board then voted 3-0 to continue a 20 Maple Road addition by Jamie Harrison and Caleb Almany to July 9 after the Weston Historical Commission, through spokesman Al Anilat, asked the ZBA to weigh in first. Anilat said the project would push the house above 20 percent residential gross floor area on a 27,000-square-foot lot and produce something that "no longer is consistent with the character of the neighborhood." Fisher Carlson refused, saying that arrangement would "totally subvert" standard practice. Attorney Michael Rabia, representing the applicants, said the project is "consistent with prior decisions" in the area.
