Weston ZBA closes hearing on six-unit Habitat for Humanity affordable housing project

WESTON — May 25, 2023 — Weston ZBA unanimously closes the public hearing on a six-unit Chapter 40B affordable housing project at 0 Wellesley Street. The Zoning Board of Appeals voted 2-0 to end the hearing at its May 25 session, with Chair Jane Fisher Carlson and member Winifred Shriegel Rock both voting aye after reviewing a newly submitted construction parking plan, revised landscape drawings, and an annotated construction management plan from applicant Habitat for Humanity of Greater Boston. Jerry Patton of Habitat told the board that MassDOT does not regulate parking on Route 20 and that the project has been cleared to use five temporary spaces on the Route 20 bypass, with no parking permitted on Wellesley Street — though responses from Weston Police and Weston Fire remain pending. Town counsel George Pucci of KP Law confirmed the board can vote its comprehensive permit decision at a future session without reopening the hearing, barring unforeseen issues, and that a driveway permit application to MassDOT is already in progress.
