Weston ZBA Continues Habitat for Humanity 40B Hearing to May 10

WESTON -- April 19, 2023, Weston's Zoning Board of Appeals set a likely final hearing date of May 10 for a six-unit Habitat for Humanity affordable housing project on Wellesley Street. Chair Jane Carlson and members Winifred Lee and Steve LaRock voted unanimously at the April 19 noon Zoom session to continue the Chapter 40B comprehensive permit hearing, with the public notice to advise that the board expects to close the record that night. The board reviewed a construction management plan submitted by project manager Gerald Patton, capping pre-construction parking on the Route 20 shoulder at four vehicles pending MassDOT approval, and requiring that Wellesley Street be off-limits to construction traffic except when a traffic backup prevents a left-hand turn from the site. Town Counsel George Pucci of KP Law urged the board to keep the hearing open so the applicant could review a draft decision before losing commenting rights, and the applicant team agreed to audit the town's online project file, which board members found incomplete and inconsistently dated. Outstanding items before closure include a revised stormwater O&M plan, a Planning Board landscaping review, and a clean dated copy of the most recent waiver list.
