Weston ZBA approves shared Golden Ball Road garage, Brook Road home addition
WESTON — April 30, 2024 — Weston ZBA grants two special permits in a brisk April 30 session. Acting Chair Wendy Kaplan Amour, with Associate Members Laura Mintz and Tristan Colangelo, voted 3-0 to allow Custom Nest Builders to demolish the 564-square-foot detached garage straddling 57 and 59 Golden Ball Road and rebuild a 648-square-foot two-story replacement on the same footprint under a 1973 shared easement, incorporating the Conservation Commission's full conditions. The board then voted 3-0 to permit Brian and Amanda Dudley's expansion of their 1954 Cape at 67 Brook Road from 1,856 to 2,931 square feet — an 11.2 percent increase — with a cantilevered fireplace projecting marginally further into the side-yard setback. Colangelo questioned whether the fireplace required a variance; Kaplan Amour said the special permit standard already covers a finding that the use not be "obnoxious, offensive, dangerous, or a nuisance."
