Weston ZBA Accepts Withdrawal of Meadowbrook Road Carriage House Permit

WESTON — November 18, 2025 — Weston ZBA sends a Meadowbrook Road carriage house application back over incomplete septic and stormwater approvals. The three-member board — Chair Stephen J. Larocque, Member Jane Fisher Carlson, and Associate Member Tristan Colangelo — declined to act on a special permit request from architect Lauren Mitchell, representing owners at 19 Meadowbrook Road, after finding the application lacked a Board of Health decision on the septic system, a formal DPW stormwater sign-off, and a fully coordinated site and landscape plan. The revised design had raised the structure's ridge height from 21 feet, 9 inches to 26 feet, 5 inches — nearly a five-foot jump over the 2018-approved plans — and expanded the Residential Gross Floor Area from 1,154 to 1,377 square feet. Colangelo said the presentation improperly conflated a detached garage special permit with a future accessory dwelling unit, telling Mitchell, "I don't think you can come to us for a garage special permit as a step towards an ADU." Mitchell withdrew the petition without prejudice, with the owners targeting an early spring 2026 resubmission.
