Weston Select Board schedules Sept. 12 town meeting on Proctor Field, Sept. 10 election

WESTON -- July 31, 2020, Weston Select Board schedules Sept. 12 town meeting on Proctor Field and Sept. 10 election. The board voted unanimously Friday to hold the delayed annual town meeting outdoors at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, with a Sunday rain date, after Chair Christopher Houston and Town Manager Leon Gaumond Jr. walked the high school site with the town clerk, police and facilities staff. Both votes are subject to a pending Superior Court order. The election will run 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Town Hall; member Harvey recused. A Finance Committee compromise placed 21 of 26 warrant articles on consent, leaving the budget, two active-adult cluster articles for 255 Merriam Street and 11 Hallett Hill Road, a communication tower bylaw amendment and a citizen's petition for floor debate. The board scrapped handheld voting devices for placards, "We're going old-fashioned here," Harvey said, raised the police detail billing rate to $55 effective Aug. 1, and authorized letters of support for two Land's Sake grants.
