Weston ConCom recommends 6-to-11 a.m. off-leash window on town trails

WESTON — August 4, 2020 — Weston Conservation Commission recommends partial rollback of pandemic dog-leash order. The commission voted 7-0 on Aug. 4 to ask the town's emergency management team to allow off-leash walking on all Weston conservation trails from 6 to 11 a.m., with dogs under voice command, and to automatically reinstate a 24-hour leash rule if Massachusetts reverts to Phase 2 reopening. The order has been in place since early April. Member Josh Feinblum proposed the phase-linked framing, arguing posted signage should be "static" rather than "re-litigating this over and over." The same meeting unanimously continued the opening of a Chapter 40B notice of intent on 518 South Avenue to Aug. 18 after Tropical Storm Isaias knocked out power across town; Conservation Agent Michelle Grisenda said at least five residents emailed that they could not log in. The commission also approved an order of conditions for a teardown-rebuild at 139 Hickory Road that cuts driveway impervious surface from 3,715 to 2,580 square feet and relocates the septic system out of the 100-foot wetland buffer.
