Weston boards vote to submit housing plan ahead of deadline

Weston Select Board and Planning Board jointly approve a Housing Production Plan submission ahead of a state deadline, over unresolved objections. Chair John F. McDonald led the 4-0 Select Board vote alongside members Rebecca J.
Mercuri, Alfred L. Aydelott and Lise N. Revers to submit the roughly 125-page draft plan, preserving the town's Chapter 40B "safe harbor" status amid pending litigation over 518 South Avenue and 104 Boston Post Road.
Planning Board Chair Alex Selvig said, "I don't feel I've had enough time to really look at all of it," and both boards scheduled a follow-up meeting in about a month to revisit specific recommendations. Separately, the Select Board unanimously authorized the town manager to issue an RFP for up to 20 units of housing at the Riverside parcel, adopted a revised Town Manager evaluation form drafted with Mercuri, and took no action on a new state rule allowing home delivery of cannabis products. The consent agenda included $1,600 in combined gifts to the Council on Aging.
