Weston Select Board reorganizes, splits 2-1 over expanding to five members
WESTON — May 14, 2024 — Weston Select Board reorganizes but splits publicly over honoring 2022 vote to expand to five members. Tom Palmer was elected chair and newly seated Lise N. Revers clerk in unanimous reorganization votes, but Revers immediately pressed her colleagues to petition the Legislature now on a 2022 town meeting article that passed 402-159 directing expansion from three to five members. Palmer and outgoing chair Laurie Bent declined, saying the Town Governance Study Committee should finish its work first. "You say you respect the vote. You don't respect the vote. If you respected the vote, you'd follow the vote," resident Steven Garfinkel of Glen Road told the board. Committee Chair Harvey Bossard said preliminary findings are due in October and a final report by May 2025 town meeting. The board also approved Buckskin Drive traffic changes, appointed Seishui Tang to the Agricultural Commission, and continued an 11-foot retaining wall request from the 518 South Avenue 40B developer for town counsel review.
