Weston Select Board hears fire review, opens hearing on $90.6 million budget

WESTON — January 25, 2022 — Weston Select Board receives Collins Center fire review and opens hearing on $90.6 million FY23 budget. Consultants Mary Aicardi and James Tarr told the board their operational assessment recommends funding one additional firefighter so all four shift groups schedule at eight rather than seven, a full facilities evaluation of the 1986-era headquarters, and a cost-benefit analysis of bringing advanced life support in-house from vendor Pro EMS. Chief David Soar described a Meadowbrook School fire earlier that morning where crews "were all scrambling" for command. Town Manager Leon Gaumond Jr. then opened the budget hearing on a 2.97 percent increase, with schools rising 3.4 percent to roughly $45.3 million and approximately $3.6 million in ARPA funds available. The board voted unanimously to designate the Crescent Street Historic District Commission to form a Kendall Common study committee and to approve Greatland Realty Partners' Park Road roadway improvement plan for MassDOT submission.
