Weston CPC hears three CPA applications, defers votes to public hearing

WESTON — January 24, 2022 — Weston CPC opens 2022 cycle with $42,000 park ask, $195,000 housing siding request and routine RHSO contribution. The committee took no votes Monday but heard the Tree Advisory Group's Lori Hess and Carol Lee present Phase 2 of a native-plant restoration at Case Park, with fall 2023 planting under landscape architect Tom Benjamin. Merriam Village Board President Todd Foot and member Ken Newberg sought $195,000 — up from a $140,000 November estimate — to re-side 10 cottages at the 62-unit affordable-elderly complex, citing a 2013 state housing notice that classifies envelope work as CPA-eligible "preservation." Member Steve Wagner said the request felt like routine maintenance that "doesn't sit well with me." Chair Steve Charkoudian said he will ask Town Counsel to confirm eligibility before the March 21 public hearing. Five more applications totaling roughly $7.5 million are due Feb. 7.
