Weston Select Board delays bulky waste fees to May, ratifies PEC contract

WESTON — December 22, 2020 — Weston Select Board delays bulky waste fees to May 1, ratifies three-year PEC deal. The board voted 3-0 Dec. 22 to push back implementation of new bulky-item collection charges on the recommendation of the Pay-As-You-Throw Working Group, after town official Tom Cullen warned that starting fees during the winter COVID surge was poorly timed. The chair said "springtime is a lot easier to handle large items as opposed to handling them in the snow." Members also adopted the FY22-FY24 successor agreement with the town's Public Employee Committee, tracking at 89.9 percent weighted union support — up from 86.82 percent in the packet — despite a firefighter "protest vote." On commercial dog walking, the chair will redraft the regulations and hold 2021 license fees flat at $100 first permit, $50 additional, and $150 per dog.
