Weston Select Board calls September 13 special town meeting for pool construction vote

WESTON — May 17, 2022 — Weston Select Board unanimously calls September 13 special town meeting, anchored by a pool construction funding article that failed in May. Chair Harvey Bossart and member Lise N. Revers led the 3-0 vote after more than an hour of debate with Recreation Commission representatives Chris Fitzgerald and Eric Rosenthal, Community Preservation Committee Chair Steve Ober, and PBC representative Jim Beams. Fitzgerald said the design team remains on schedule to have bids in hand by September 12 after clearing Conservation Commission and Planning Board reviews this spring; Beams warned the board bluntly that "we need to manage these folks better than they've been able to manage themselves" after the design team missed earlier deadlines that blocked the pool from the May annual town meeting. A pickleball design-fees article — also defeated in May for lack of a CPC funding request — may join the warrant if the Recreation Commission can complete a CPC application cycle over the summer. The board also approved a 2 percent FY23 cost-of-living raise for non-union town employees, three Verizon small cell installations on Weston utility poles, two Weston 300 memorial benches at Ash Street Trail Extension, and stone wall repairs at Case Estates totaling roughly $29,400.
