Weston Select Board backs cemetery gate restoration, adopts EV policy before town meeting

WESTON — April 29, 2025 — Weston's Select Board voted to support a historic cemetery gate restoration and unanimously adopted an electric vehicle policy at its April 29 meeting, days before the Annual Town Meeting. Town Manager Leon Gaumond, presenting the Select Board Rewind summary, said the board backed a Community Preservation Act article to replace the ornate Central Cemetery gate using historic preservation methods and a companion article that would impose a preservation restriction enabling the town to apply for a Massachusetts Historic Commission grant. The board also voted unanimously to adopt a non-binding draft EV policy that qualifies Weston for a state Climate Leader designation. Alfred L. Aydelott was jointly appointed by the Select Board and Planning Board to fill the Planning Board seat vacated by Lori Hess, who moved out of town. Sarah Maas Schlupin was appointed to the Conservation Commission. Notably absent from the May warrant: the MBTA 3A rezoning article, which Gaumond said could not advance after the Planning Board twice declined to recommend it.
