Weston Planning Board recommends Greatland restaurant zoning change ahead of town meeting

WESTON — April 30, 2025 — Weston Planning Board votes 4-1 to recommend a zoning bylaw change that would allow a restaurant at the Greatland property on Riverside Road. Chair Leslie Glynn and members Timothy Shawn Lanier, Adrienne Giske, and Jing Yu voted in favor at the April 30 special meeting; Vice Chair Alex Selvig dissented, citing concerns about the site's proximity to residential streets and questions about the 240-seat capacity proposed in preliminary plans. The board also voted 4-1 to endorse a $510,000 restoration of the Central Cemetery memorial entrance on Boston Post Road — a project that failed at a prior town meeting when the estimate stood near $740,000 — with a Massachusetts Historical Commission grant application pending that could reduce the net cost to $461,000. Selvig voted no on the cemetery project as well, stating it fell outside the planning board's direct jurisdiction. Both articles head to annual town meeting the week of May 5. The board separately voted 3-1 to support a roughly $25,000 clock restoration at First Parish Church, and took no position on a companion liquor license article and a Select Board expansion petition.
