Weston Select Board approves precinct redraw and advances Greatland well abandonment
WESTON — October 26, 2021 — Weston Select Board clears precinct redraw, sets Greatland well study in motion, picks Burnett for Historical Commission. The board, chaired by Harvey Boshart with members Laurie Bent and Christopher Houston, unanimously accepted the Secretary of State's 2020 precinct map — moving roughly 191 voters from Precinct 3 to Precinct 2 — and directed Town Manager Leon Gaumond to hire a consultant, at Greatland Realty Partners' expense, to evaluate abandoning two inactive wells inside the I-90/95 cloverleaf that block the developer's Riverside Road life-science campus. Kevin Sheehan of Greatland and engineer Justin Mosca of BSC Group said DEP has been "pretty adamant" the 1960s-era wells will never return to service. The board also appointed Mara Burnett over Ford Curran to the Historical Commission, authorized letters of support for two roughly $10,000 urban-forestry grants, and entered executive session for town manager contract negotiations.
