Planning Board sends 441 Glen Road car barn back for redesign

WESTON — November 3, 2021 — Weston Planning Board orders Glen Road car barn redrawn over conservation setback. The board on Nov. 3 continued the 441 Glen Road site plan amendment to Nov. 17 after raising concerns about a proposed 1,400-square-foot, 22-foot-tall four-car barn sited two feet from a 1986 Weston Forest and Trail Association conservation restriction. Architect Marcus Gleysteen committed to shrinking the footprint to roughly five to six feet from the line and to studying a lower roof and shorter rooftop monitor. WFTA trustee Kristin Barbieri said the association could not see how construction could proceed "without people, vehicles, and materials physically being on the conservation area." Abutters Phil and Lucy Saunders pressed for motion-sensor lighting and a no-jackhammering condition on any ledge removal. Earlier, the board approved Josiah Smith Tavern landscape revisions 5-0 and continued the 9-15-20 Riverside Road review, where the applicant proposes to remove 208 of 532 surveyed trees and plant 241 new ones.
