Weston School Committee approves five-bus lease at $755,000 after first-day fleet failures. The committee voted 3-2 to authorize Superintendent Dr. Karen Zaleski to enter a five-year lease with Lease Servicing Center, Inc., d/b/a National Cooperative Leasing, for five 71-passenger buses after multiple buses failed on the first three days of school, leaving only one operational spare.
Members Kenneth Newberg and Stephen Dietz voted against, citing concerns about maintenance capacity and penalty-free termination, respectively. The motion requested a comprehensive transportation fleet review as part of the FY28 budget cycle.
