Weston Planning Committee Approves Minutes, Advances Master Plan Subcommittee Work

WESTON — July 15, 2025 — Weston's Unified Planning Committee welcomed three new members and debated the scope and granularity of its comprehensive master plan at a July 15 hybrid meeting. Danielle Black chaired the session, which approved minutes from five prior meetings dating to January, with new at-large members Diana Chaplin and Melanie Larson and incoming School Committee representative Ken Newberg all abstaining. Jon Harris, representing the Finance Committee, presented a municipal services framework that distinguishes between informational content — laying out capital and service needs without binding future boards — and determinative recommendations, telling the committee "we don't have the authority to do that." Robert Scott pressed the group to stay focused on overarching goals rather than granular project directives. The committee's consultant, Barrett Planning Group, is expected to deliver an existing conditions report within weeks; members demanded at least a week's advance access before any presentation session. Subcommittee work on land planning, housing, circulation, municipal services, and economic development is due to Barrett by the end of October, and the committee set its next fully remote meeting for August 4 at 4 p.m.
