Unified Planning Committee approves Barrett phase-two master-plan contract

WESTON — December 20, 2024 — Weston's Unified Planning Committee unanimously extends Barrett's master-plan contract into a $146,000 drafting phase. Members voted Dec. 20 to authorize the phase-two scope, valued at just under $146,000, after Town Meeting approved the full funding needed to move beyond visioning. Finance Committee representative Jon Harris questioned the staff lead on payment mechanics and was told Barrett will bill hourly in phase two, with no cost overages recorded in phase one and a per-meeting contingency priced at $1,000 remote and $1,300 in person. One member proposed conditioning approval on the committee's satisfaction with the visioning product, calling the language "more technical than practical" given that "I've been very happy with their work." Planning Board representative Marga Hutcheson, Select Board representative Laurie Bent and Harris all voted aye on the roll call.
