Weston Historical Commission gives 2024 Appreciation Award to Pamela W. Fox

WESTON — September 17, 2024 — Weston Historical Commission honors preservationist Pamela W. Fox with 2024 Appreciation Award. Co-Chair Phyllis Halpern read a detailed citation at the Sept. 17 meeting recognizing Fox's work since 1991, including authorship of "Farm to Suburb: The History and Architecture of Weston, Massachusetts" and her role as "a guiding force" behind the town's demolition delay bylaw and a strengthened scenic road bylaw. The citation also credited Fox with the 2013 tercentennial exhibit "Farmers Precinct," a 2015 Town Hall photographic installation, and the 2022 "History Under One Roof" exhibition marking the restored Josiah Smith Tavern's reopening. Member Ford Curran designed the award and member Henry S. Stone, Jr. arranged framing, donated by Florentine Frames. "I feel like maybe this is because I've been complaining too much," Fox said on accepting. "Do you get an award for complaining?" The commission adjourned with no other business.
