Weston panel continues Loring Road hearing, splits on two window cases

Weston Historical Commission continues a Loring Road addition case over inaccurate drawings, approves two window swaps by split votes. The board voted 6-0 Tuesday to continue a demolition-delay hearing on a 1910 colonial revival at 17 Loring Road to September 1, citing drawings that misrepresented rooflines and foundation heights. Members separately approved Marvin fiberglass window inserts at 49 Newton Street, 4-1, and third-floor window and railing replacements at the 1867 Fisk House, 215 Boston Post Road, 5-1, with Co-Chair Phyllis Halpern dissenting both times in favor of restoration over replacement.
The board also voted unanimously to ask Town Counsel to waive a deed restriction barring fencing at the Hayfields estate, 823 Boston Post Road, so new owner Kelly Grimes can secure the property for his mother and dog. "I would still prefer to see them restored," Halpern said of the window votes. The board approved $300 in invoices for two new historic marker signs.
