Weston Historical Commission clears 12 Hemlock Road renovation in 6-0 vote

WESTON — October 8, 2024 — Weston Historical Commission clears Hemlock Road renovation and backs $85,000 clock restoration. The commission voted 6-0 Tuesday to release the Wilson family's plan to fill in a recessed porch and add a bay window at 12 Hemlock Road, with architect Nancy Allison detailing matched cedar shingles, Marvin four-over-two windows and a Simpson wood door. Members also voted 6-0 to support a Community Preservation Act request for roughly $85,000 to restore First Parish Church's three-faced tower clock, with line items of $29,500 for wood repair, $16,000 for gold leaf and numerals, and $18,000 for staging. Board Chair Nancy Piedra said a competing $22,000 carpenter bid covered repair only. Resident Adrian Hauck warned that siting a fire station on Linwood Cemetery land would require legislative approval and could delay construction "four to five years."
