Weston Historical Commission continues Loring Road hearing, weighs fate of 1690s house and war memorial. Co-Chair Phyllis Halpern led the panel through a continued demolition-delay hearing on a 1910 house at 17 Loring Road, continued unanimously to September 15 after member Alfred Aydelott produced concept sketches addressing site and roofline concerns. Members also debated repairing or replacing the cracked boulder holding the town's George Washington Memorial plaque, quoted at $3,285 to $3,970 by contractor Dennis Devini, and discussed pursuing a new preservation restriction on 120 Summer Street, a pre-1690 house now for sale after a prior $245,000 Community Preservation Act restriction fell through in 2019.
Halpern said the commission would "probably follow the process we follow and have an appraisal and do it properly" before reapplying to the CPC ahead of its September 4 deadline. The commission approved its March 10 minutes unanimously and adjourned for the Labor Day weekend.
