Weston Historical Commission Continues Irving Road Demolition Hearing One Month

WESTON — May 2, 2023 — Weston Historical Commission advanced demolition and renovation cases for five properties at its May 2 meeting. The board voted 4-0 to leave in place a 12-month demolition delay on 109 Lexington Street, the White Farm owned by the Cambridge School of Weston, after the school withdrew its application to lift the delay. At 6 Irving Road, a condemned 1930 colonial revival salt box in the Irving Road Historic Area, the commission approved the garage's demolition unanimously but voted 3-1 to continue the demolition delay hearing on the main house to May 30, with member Steve Wagner dissenting; neighbor Trish Fawcett told the commission the structure is "a hazard and an eyesore" with animals living inside. The commission approved a window replacement application at 348 Boston Post Road 3-1, with Co-Chair Phyllis Halpern dissenting, and unanimously approved replacement windows on the historically restricted 1764 Spring Elliston House at 263 South Avenue. Three properties — the Paul Pratt House at 317 Glen Road, the Georgian revival Parsons-Ferris House at 5 Concord Road, and the Spring Elliston House — were each found historically significant by unanimous vote, with the Glen Road and Concord Road applications referred to public hearings on May 30.
