Kendal Common study committee selects website images, sets March launch

WESTON — February 2, 2023 — Kendal Common study committee picks landing-page photos and confirms 105-house survey scope. Members of Weston's Kendal Common Local Historic District Study Committee met Feb. 2 to approve images for the committee's forthcoming town webpage, including a Carl Koch sales brochure carrying the slogan "building toward a better life" and a wide-angle neighborhood shot member David called all the explanation the page needs. Consultant Stacey, working through the Massachusetts Historical Commission, has identified 105 candidate properties out of 125 possibilities and classified the survey under the formal style "mid-century modern." Member Rick, reporting from a neighborhood annual meeting the night before, said only 14 or 15 Weston-side houses are eligible and "I would be surprised if half the people want to do it at this point." The committee resolved that state guidance does not require a Historical Society member, only that the Select Board solicit nominations from the society, the realtors and the AIA — a step former chair Al completed. The webpage is expected to go live within a week; the next meeting is March 2.
