Kendal Common study committee accepts survey extension, plans board-first outreach

WESTON — September 14, 2023 — Kendal Common study committee accepts a two-month survey delay and reorders its outreach plan. Meeting Sept. 14 by Zoom, the Kendal Common Local Historic District Study Committee learned its consultant's Phase 3 deadline has slipped from late September to Nov. 15 and Phase 4 to Jan. 15, an extension already processed by town preservation planner Phyllis with the Massachusetts Historical Commission. Chair Alicia said she "would have asked for a discount, frankly," and directed staff to push for the Kendal Common properties to be delivered first. Member Rick, a neighborhood resident, proposed sequencing outreach by meeting first with the six-to-eight-member Kendal Common Corporation board, calling it "a really interesting first step" before any wider resident meeting. The committee flagged a Facebook proposal from resident Sylvia Bedoin to clear common-land trees for a solar array as effectively dead on arrival. Next meeting Oct. 5.
