Kendal Common committee sets Feb. 15 session to review draft survey forms

WESTON — February 1, 2024 — Kendal Common study committee maps path to neighborhood forum on possible historic district. The committee on Feb. 1 agreed to redistribute consultant Stacy Spies's draft inventory forms, line-edited its annual report summary, and committed to redrafting purview language to make clear that sympathetic additions could be approved. Member Rick reported that a recent Kendal Common Inc. board meeting produced new consensus around "all or nothing" district boundaries, driven partly by exposure to the MBTA Communities multifamily zoning framework if parcels are excluded. Members noted Weston's Historical Commission review still cuts off at 1945, lagging the state's rolling 50-year guidance. "We have to be very careful about how that language is crafted," Rick said of additions policy, citing Moon Hill in Lexington as a compatible-alteration precedent. Minutes were approved 5-0 by roll call. The committee meets next Feb. 15.
