Kendal Common committee sets April 24 Zoom meeting on historic district idea

WESTON — February 29, 2024 — Kendal Common study committee aims at April 24 Zoom meeting to test neighborhood support for historic district. The Local Historic District Study Committee on Feb. 29 sketched a three-part program — a historical-perspective slide show by member David, a mechanics-of-the-bylaw discussion, and lived-experience testimony from longtime Crescent Street homeowner Addie Fisk — for an outreach meeting targeted at Kendal Common's residents. Member Rick, reporting on two recent appearances before the neighborhood association, said residents are warming to the concept but stuck on whether to proceed without unanimity, particularly given MBTA Communities law pressures: "If you don't all do it, why do it?" The committee said it will not bring an article to fall or annual town meeting, opting for a progress report instead. Members also flagged inconsistencies in original-owner language across the Giles, Sagan and Stanchel house survey forms for consultant Stacey to correct. The next committee meeting is March 21.
