Historical Commission sends 20 Maple Road addition back for fourth redesign

WESTON — June 18, 2024 — Weston Historical Commission sends 20 Maple Road addition back for a fourth redesign. The commission voted 5-0 to continue the hearing to July 16 after members said the latest scaled-down plan, presented by architect Joe Fournier of JFF Design Architects for owners Jamie Harrison and Caleb Almany, still placed too much mass at the front of a contributing house in the Case Corner state and national historic district. Fournier said the front wall had been pulled back 10 feet, the attic reduced to mechanical space, and total floor area cut to about 5,800 square feet, and noted the owners had submitted 10 neighbor letters of support. Co-Chair Phyllis Halpern called the proposed barn-style garage "very squat and not really appropriate," and Member Henry S. Stone, Jr. said the impact on the district "is still a major one." The commission also approved a 98 Love Lane barn renovation, a 22 Church Street garage addition, and found 33 Aberdeen Road and 115 Loring Road historically significant.
