Historical Commission imposes demolition delays on two homes, clears four other projects

WESTON — June 22, 2021 — Weston Historical Commission imposes one-year demolition delays on two significant homes. The commission voted unanimously Tuesday to delay demolition of an 1891 house at 669 Boston Post Road and a 1933 brick craftsman at 97 Bogle Street, where Newton owner Charles Bridges presented preliminary plans for a replacement house on the combined two-acre parcel. Member Al argued the formal delay was warranted as "a negotiation process," while member Steve framed it as a working window — "If we impose the delay just for protocol, we can lift it in four weeks." Town officials are exploring Community Preservation Committee funds and potential two-family affordable housing at the Boston Post Road property. The board also cleared additions at 272 North Avenue, 5 and 21 Warren Place, and waived a public hearing for 15 Warren Place after owners Cliff and Amy Nash agreed to drop a proposed cupola. Initial determinations on the 1786 Habakkuk Hagar house at 88 North Avenue continue July 20.
