Historical Commission finds six Weston houses significant in marathon May session

WESTON — May 25, 2021 — Weston Historical Commission finds six houses significant, sends all to June 22 hearings. The commission, chaired by Steve Wagner, voted unanimously on the 1891 house at 669 Boston Post Road, the 1933 craftsman at 97 Bogle Street (owner Charles Bridges), the 1843 Gothic Revival at 272 North Avenue (Phyllis Shapiro Goodman), the 1924 colonial at 21 Warren Place (Michael and Makiya McDade), and the 1935 house at 5 Warren Place. Owner Mr. Rowe of 669 Boston Post Road told members he loves the property and would entertain a preservation restriction backed by Community Preservation funds — "I would definitely entertain anything," he said — after Planning Board member Leslie Glenn described $3,000-$5,000 restriction costs and member Alicia offered to broker affordable-housing interest. Members also pushed back on a vinyl-window proposal at 21 Jones Road, with member John Thompson calling vinyl windows products that "kind of don't cut it," and authorized up to $500 for a follow-up structural inspection at 770 Boston Post Road ahead of its June demolition-delay expiration.
