Historical Commission finds 97 Bogle Street significant, schedules December demolition hearing

WESTON — October 27, 2020 — Weston Historical Commission deems 97 Bogle Street significant, sets Dec. 8 demolition hearing. The commission voted unanimously Tuesday that the 1933 Craftsman brick house — described in its form B as "largely unchanged" with skintled brick masonry and original 12-pane porch windows — is historically significant, though it split on the property's garage. Real estate agent Alexander Benson, representing Kentucky-based owner Robert Saunders, told members the plan is to combine the parcel with 0 Bogle to roughly 190 feet of frontage and two acres and build a replacement home. Co-Chair Phyllis Halpern warned that a demolition permit would not transfer if a delay is imposed. The commission also continued an initial determination on four second-floor windows at 1 Derby Lane, where restoration was quoted at roughly $2,200 per window against $1,600 replacement inserts, with a site walk set before the Nov. 10 public hearing.
