Historical Commission clears four projects, previews Silver Hill bylaw

WESTON — February 4, 2020 — Weston Historical Commission clears four projects and previews Silver Hill bylaw replacing stalled 40B. The commission on Feb. 4 approved design changes at 471 Concord Road, 823 Boston Post Road and 118 Conant Road and an initial significance finding at 709 Boston Post Road, with Co-Chair Phyllis Halpern and member Steve Wagner delegated to sign off on non-vinyl window and railing substitutions for owner Justine Richards's 57-window renovation. The commission set a March 4 public hearing for 64 Wellesley Street and raised its Community Preservation Committee request for cemetery restoration from $75,000 to $140,000 — $117,000 of it for tomb work. A planning-board liaison briefed the commission on a new bylaw, drafted by Katie Lockman of Kopelman and Paige, authorizing developer Jeff Engler's eight-unit active-senior cluster at 255 Merriam Street; members objected to demolishing the existing barn, "listed in the MACRIS form individually as a contributor to the Silver Hill historic district."
