Historical Commission clears Derby Lane work, sends Love Lane Tudor to August hearing

WESTON — July 21, 2020 — Weston Historical Commission clears Derby Lane porch project, sends Love Lane Tudor to hearing. The commission on July 21 unanimously found a 1930 French Eclectic at 29 Derby Lane by architect Harold Graves significant, then released owner Ty Houghton's porch conversions from demolition delay with co-chair review of one elevation. A 1929 Tudor at 99 Love Lane owned by the Burns family was sent to an Aug. 18 public hearing after members objected to a proposed cupola, arched brick garage doors, and a double-wide front entry; member Henry S. Stone Jr. said the brick detailing "makes it look like it's brick wallpaper." A third application to demolish a 1942 Colonial Revival at 28 Montvale Road was withdrawn after applicants John and Aaron O'Neill said they had not closed. Co-Chair Phyllis Halpern presided.
