Historical Commission approves window, gutter, and addition projects at three sites

WESTON -- November 25, 2024, Weston Historical Commission greenlights three historic-property projects in single 4-0 sweep. Co-Chair Phyllis Halpern and members Steve Wagner, Henry S. Stone, Jr., and Ford Curran approved a contested window and door replacement at 70 Cornwoods Drive, gutter replacement at St. Peter's Episcopal Church at 439 Boston Post Road, and a 553-square-foot addition to the Eugene and Ann White House at 9 Jones Road. Halpern voted yes on the Cornwoods design but said on the record "it could be better," objecting to the loss of muntin scale; Stone countered that the existing Andersen casements "are not original to this house." Pastor Frederick Kimball priced fiberglass gutter replicas at roughly $26 per linear foot, "extremely cost prohibitive," settling instead on white aluminum with Azek crown molding pending Stone's profile review. Bob Karsikian's 17-unit age-restricted conversion of the Drabbington Lodge at 135 North Avenue also cleared review, with rear-canopy designs to return.
