Historical Commission approves carriage house and cottage renovations without hearings

WESTON — December 17, 2024 — Weston Historical Commission clears two 1920 outbuilding rehabs and pans a Love Lane gate. Meeting Tuesday under Co-Chair Steve Wagner, the commission unanimously found the 33 Bullard Road carriage house significant and approved architect Richard Pingataro's plan to replace deteriorated windows, doors and garage doors in kind with Pella Reserve units, enlarge a dormer, and repair the slate roof, all without a public hearing. It also unanimously approved a porch rebuild, garage-door infill and window reshuffle at 170 Winter Street by Studio Hearth's Kyle Cousins, ruling the much-altered 1920 cottage significant as part of a "picturesque ensemble" with an adjacent barn. Members told the Planning Board the proposed eight-foot brick-and-stone gate at 96 Love Lane is inappropriate, with Co-Chair Phyllis Halpern saying "it looks like there should be a guard shack next to it." A 445 Glen Road demolition hearing was postponed to Jan. 14.
