Weston Board of Health reviews public health surveillance, monitors World Cup health threats. Public Health Nurse Rachel Olivera reported cases of campylobacteriosis, Hemophilius influenzae, and anaplasmosis in May, and announced plans to present on tick-related illness at the Council on Aging on July 8. Public Health Director Kelly Pawluczonek reported monitoring state surveillance updates regarding World Cup venues and potential health threats.
The board received an update on lead-contamination response at 325 Merriam Street, where 22 additional soil samples were taken to determine remediation needs; a risk-assessment report is expected within one to two weeks.
