Weston ZBA unanimously approves Whiteman Tennis Center's three-court indoor expansion
WESTON — September 4, 2024 — Weston ZBA approves Whiteman Tennis Center's three-court indoor expansion in unanimous vote. The Zoning Board of Appeals voted 3-0 at its September 4 meeting to amend a special permit allowing the Hazel Hotchkiss Whiteman Tennis Center at 100 Brown Street to construct a 21,456-square-foot addition housing three new indoor courts, bringing the facility's indoor total to seven. Attorney Kathy Winters of Schlesinger and Bookbinder presented the application alongside engineer Robert Gemma of Metro West Engineering and project architect Christopher Russ; zero abutters appeared at any stage of the planning board's prior review. The board also incorporated conditions from the Planning Board's August 14, 2024, certificate of action, including a lighting peer review for the facility's high-lumen tennis court fixtures. A second application, from Emery Patterson for a residential garage addition, was continued to September 24 after the board found the residential gross floor area calculation incomplete and a Board of Health letter absent from the file.
