Weston ZBA unanimously approves new application form and board rules

WESTON — March 28, 2023 — Weston's Zoning Board of Appeals voted 4-0 to adopt a revised hearing application form and updated board rules. Chair Jane Fisher Carlson led members Stephen J. Larocque, Wendy Kaplan Amour, and associate member Winifred Lee through a line-by-line review of both documents during the March 28 Zoom meeting, with staff assistant Valerie Geary editing in real time. Key changes include a requirement for four hard copies and one electronic copy of all submissions, a new standalone sentence requiring the application fee to be submitted with the application, and a clause that "incomplete applications will not be accepted." The board also added language directing applicants to the zoning bylaw definition of residential gross floor area, after Larocque noted that professionals "don't always measure it correctly," and encouraged use of color contrast on site plans to differentiate existing from proposed conditions.
