Weston ZBA Opens 40B Hearing on Six-Unit Habitat for Humanity Project

WESTON — December 6, 2022 — Weston's Zoning Board of Appeals opened a comprehensive permit hearing on a six-unit Habitat for Humanity project on a 3.17-acre town parcel at 1–11 Wellesley Street. Chair Jane Carlson, joined by members Steve LaRock and Winifred Lee, heard presentations from Habitat's director of construction Jerry Patton, civil engineer Rob Gemma of Metro West Engineering, architect Keith Gross of HDS Architects, and landscape architect Antonia Beata of Beata 3 Design. The Weston Affordable Housing Trust, which holds the land transferred by Town Meeting vote in 2018, has committed $450,000 in Community Preservation Act funds to the project. The three two-family buildings — six units, 18 bedrooms — have already cleared Conservation Commission, Board of Health, and stormwater permitting reviews, but the ZBA asked the applicant to provide a traffic study, full stormwater data, fire-department access confirmation, turning-radius diagrams, an arborist report, and a more detailed landscape plan before the next session. The board voted unanimously to hold a site walk December 13 at 7:30 a.m. and to reconvene January 17, 2023, at noon via Zoom.
