Weston Finance Committee Appoints Sadek in 7-1 Vote to Fill Vacancy
WESTON — December 7, 2022 — Weston Finance Committee votes 7-1 to appoint Zachary Sadek to fill a vacant seat. Chair Bharath Venkataraman presided over the December 7 remote meeting, where members chose Sadek — a private equity manager with two children in Weston public schools — from a pool of four candidates, with member Rebecca Kantar casting the lone dissenting vote after expressing a preference for candidate Diana Chaplin. Town clerk Deb Davenport also voted, as required by town bylaws for midterm vacancies. The committee then received an early budget preview from the Town Administrator, who outlined more than a dozen possible warrant articles for the spring Annual Town Meeting — including a master plan update, IT Phase 3, and a public safety radio upgrade — and reported that the teachers union is seeking 17.25 percent in raises over three years against the school committee's standing offer of 5.75 percent, the same rate accepted by five other school unions.
