Weston ZBA continues Willard Road addition, approves Wightman membership increase

WESTON — December 16, 2021 — Weston ZBA continues 11 Willard Road addition, lifts Wightman Tennis cap to 350 families. The board voted 3-0 Dec. 16 to continue Joe Scaparata's special-permit hearing to Jan. 10 after architect Mark Herrick presented a revised design cutting roughly 510 square feet, about 10 percent, and bringing RGFA just under 5,000 square feet at about 20 percent of lot area. Chair Jane Carlson and member Winifred Lee said the reduction was insufficient given neighboring RGFA ratios of 8 to 13 percent; member Alan Rose said the plan "narrowly passes the tests" against an existing substandard house. Abutters Asa and Marnie Phillips of 22 Bemis Street supported the project. On a separate petition, the board voted 3-0 to raise the Hazel Hotchkiss Wightman Tennis Center cap from 300 to 350 family memberships across all categories, incorporating the Planning Board's Oct. 12 certificate of action; a variance request for an eight-foot fence at 10 Possum Road was dismissed without prejudice after the applicants failed to appear.
