Planning Board adopts mid-construction tree inspection requirement

WESTON — December 15, 2021 — Weston Planning Board adopts mid-construction tree inspection after repeated root-zone damage. The board voted 4-0 on Dec. 15 to add a new check-in point requiring town inspection after initial clearing and grading and before issuance of a building and foundation permit, closing what Town Planner Imai called a "big gap" between fencing review and the certificate of occupancy. Tree consultant Kim said the language adds "another layer of protection." Chair Alicia Primer cited damage at 255 Merriam, 5 Clifford and 576 North Avenue, where bulldozers graded out to the limit-of-work fencing. Vice Chair Leslie Glynn asked that the new step be folded into the existing tree-fencing condition for clarity. The board also opened and continued scenic-road hearings for an 11,094-square-foot home at 21 Chestnut Street and a 5,750-square-foot replacement home at 83 Brown Street, both to Jan. 5.
