Weston ZBA approves egress door variance at 25 Bullard Road

WESTON — April 8, 2025 — Weston ZBA unanimously approves a de minimis variance for a basement egress door at 25 Bullard Road. The three-member board voted 3-0 at its April 8 meeting to allow Stephen and Anita Vanderstoke to construct a door well, retaining wall, and egress door along the west side of their home, a structure that crosses the district's required 45-foot side-yard setback by a small margin. Architect Axel Ramirez Palacio of St. Kachmar Architects presented the plans, explaining the project involves excavating roughly six to seven feet down to the foundation with no changes to the building's height, footprint, or interior layout. Chair Stephen J. Larocque moved the formal approval, with Associate Member Laura Mintz and Associate Member Tristan Colangelo both voting in favor. The applicants noted that the immediately adjacent neighbor at 33 Bullard Road, identified as Kevin and Erica Colleran, had been consulted and expressed support for the project.
