Weston ZBA approves amended septic permit for 7 French Road

WESTON — August 17, 2021 — Weston ZBA clears amended septic plan at 7 French Road over abutter objections. The Zoning Board of Appeals voted 3-0 Tuesday to amend Edwin and Mei-Ling Gaw's 2018 special permit, approving a leaching facility narrowed from roughly 14 to nine feet and a two-foot gravity-block retaining wall along the abutter's line. Acting Chair Alan Rose called it "somewhat of a close case" but said applicants met the special-permit standard. Civil engineer Bill Doyle said Cambridge Reservoir tributary buffers and a 100-foot catch-basin arc leave no alternative siting. Abutter Philippe Ocampo pressed for an independent engineering review and funding for a $500 irrigation zone to protect two Norway maples; the board declined but required hand-digging, root pruning, a root barrier and at least six five-to-eight-foot arborvitae as screening.
