Weston Water Tank Group Clears Open Meeting Complaint, Eyes October MEPA Filing

WESTON — July 30, 2025 — Weston's water tank working group authorized a response to an open meeting law complaint and set a late-September or early-October MEPA filing target for the town's roughly $39 million water storage tank project. Select Board Chair Lise N. Revers and two fellow working group members voted 3-0 to direct Town Manager Leon Gaumond and Town Counsel Lauren Goldberg to ask the state's Division of Open Government to close the July 18 complaint without action, after Goldberg found all three allegations either inapplicable or explicitly permitted under state law. Engineer Amy Coppers of Wright Pierce reported a 45 percent design submittal is due to the town August 21, with hydraulic modeling ongoing to identify locations for pressure reducing valves — a portion of the project estimated at roughly $5 million. The meeting's sharpest exchange came during public comment, when abutters Jill Waldner of 148 Highland Street and Tom Seaman of 100 Highland Street urged the board to reopen the approved conservation land swap and offer back the existing tank parcel; Revers acknowledged she had previously sought to reopen the swap but was outvoted, and said the issue "could be something that the select board addresses at a select board meeting."
